Course Description

Mon 20th, Tues 21st, Wed 22nd, Thurs 23rd & Fri 24th August 2018. This course provides an opportunity for teachers to become familiar with the renowned concept of music education formulated by the Hungarian composer and educator Zoltán Kodály. His educational concept can be summed up as active, experience-based learning and musical development through singing.
With a variety of activity based learning, this course allows participants to improve their own musicianship and music leadership, including choral conducting, while at the same time opening up a world of music teaching ideas, methods and resources for all three strand of the music curriculum; Performing, Listening and Composing.
As well as exploring a graded approach to teaching music literacy and concepts, teachers are given practical ideas for class planning, including the use of percussion instruments, the use of technology in the teaching of music, and a wealth of repertoire to rejuvenate music in their classroom.
