The Region supports the continuing professional learning needs of 548 Primary and 126 Post-Primary school communities .

The centre is part of a group of 20 full time education centres and 10 centres operating on a part time basis, our centre on a part time basis.
Our main aim is to support the inservice needs of the Department of Education and Science and support locally identified needs of all the partners in Education.

GPS: 53.370206,-6.254702Drumcondra Education Centre is a purpose built training facility in the grounds of St. Patrick’s College of Education, Drumcondra, Dublin 9. It is one of the largest Centres in the national network of twenty-one and caters for the catchment area of Dublin north city and county: over 200 primary schools, 75 post-primary schools and approximately 5,000 teachers who form its main client base. The Centre offers ease of access to all and a full range of modern facilities for meetings and programme administration.
Since the mid 1970s, the Centre has been a leader in the design and delivery of teacher and whole-school community professional development initiatives both at a national and local level. It has a strong tradition of innovation and excellent service and has firmly established networks, both educational and business, to assist it in the service it provides to its education community. The Centre currently hosts and administers a number of national programmes on behalf of the Department of Education and Skills. These comprise the Project Maths Initiative, The Child Protection Guidelines and Relationships and Sexuality Programme (post-primary), The Summer Courses Programme for Primary Teachers and the training for school Boards of Management (Primary and Post-Primary). It has recently been appointed as the administrative hub for the Region 1 Professional Development Service for Teachers (PDST). The Centre alsooffers a range of development opportunities via DES mandated and also local elective courses for the school communities that it serves.
In particular, the Centre has developed a unique niche for teacher professional learning in the areas of conflict resolution and mediation training. It offers face to face courses on conflict resolution techniques for primary and post-primary teachers. Teacher up-skilling in this area continues to be provided through the Centre’s Spring and Autumn local courses programme and also its face-to face and online Summer Course Programme.

We also serve the schools of County Louth for I.C.T. purposes. Our geographical situation gives us an ideal opportunity to engage in Cross Border work, an opportunity that we have grasped enthusiastically. Reading Recovery was introduced to the Republic of Ireland in 2000 and was piloted in Monaghan. We are now National Administrative Centre for Reading Recovery in Ireland. We are also the National Administrative Centre for the Supervision of Guidance Counsellors.

GPS: 53.653121,-6.679589Navan Education Centre - one of 21 such full-time Centres throughout the country - provides support for teachers, schools, principals, Boards of Management and allied school personnel in counties Meath and Louth. The region has approximately 224 schools, both primary and post primary. Navan also gives professional ICT support to the schools and teachers of Co Cavan. In total we support over 4,000 teachers and allied school personnel. The centre is funded by the Teacher Education Section of the Department of Education and Science (DES) under the European Social Fund National Development Plan. It is managed by a committee elected annually at the Centre's AGM. Day-to-day management and administration are the responsibility of Director, Bernadette McHugh and staff. The Centre was established in 1972 in the Navan Vocational School and then moved to St Anne’s Loreto Convent in 1974. The present building was officially opened by the Minister for Education, Michael Woods TD on 25 May 2001.
