Region 2 comprises three full time Education Centres:

The Education Centres in Region 2 support teachers in 460 primary schools and 150 post primary schools.

GPS: 53.2799641,-6.1545489Blackrock Education Centre is located in the grounds of IADT, Dún Laoghaire, Co. Dublin. The Centre is a bright, naturally lit building surrounding a central courtyard. BEC has developed considerable expertise in the educational use of digital media, environmental education and educational publishing.
We promote initiatives created by FÍS based in IADT, Ireland’s leading college for digital media. BEC has produced award winning websites www.somethingfishy.ie and www.trails.ie which combine our interest in environment and in digital media. A recent innovation is Paddy’s School Garden available on our website.
BEC is the HQ for Junior Certificate Schools Programme http://jcsp.slss.ie , the Transition Year Support Service http://ty.slss.ie and the Associates and Local Facilitator Administration ALFA. An attractive feature of the Centre is Marian’s Wood to the rear of the Centre, a native woodland established by her friends to commemorate Marian Rollins an inspirational teacher who died prematurely some years ago.

GPS: 53.290523,-6.363564Dublin West Education Centre has been a full time Education Centre since 1991. Specifically it serves the needs of 6,000 primary and post primary teachers in West Dublin and plays its part in the network of Education Centres.
The Centre’s local course provision is extensive, it enables numerous worthwhile projects including Write a Book project and it works closely with national support services. It played a leading role in the management of national support services and programmes and in the establishment of Teacher Professional Communities and in building capacity in the CPD system.
It continues to be innovative in the areas of curriculum, Creativity in the Arts, Substance Misuse, ICT and Home School Community Liaison. Its participation in the WiMi European Project has had the effect of connecting a large number of Irish teachers and pupils to their European counterparts.
